Prof. Dr. T.S. Chandrasekar is a much sought after teaching faculty during his stint at Madras Medical College, initially as Tutor and later as Assistant Professor of Medicine. Subsequently he was selected by the Tamil Nadu Government and promoted and seconded to Coimbatore as Assistant Professor, wherein he established the New Department of Medical Gastroenterology at Coimbatore Medical College and functioned as its In-charge.
Subsequently he established the MedIndia Hospitals as its Founder, Chairman & Chief Gastroenterologist at Chennai in 2001, which is affiliated to The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University as a Centre of Excellence in Digestive Diseases. Since 2001, he has been an Invited Expert Faculty for hundreds of National, Regional and State Level Medical Conferences and Live Workshops on Advanced G.I. Endoscopy. He has also been an expert international faculty in over 80 International Live Endoscopy Workshop held at Singapore, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and India.
From his collection of over 23,500 complex Therapeutic Endoscopy procedures performed over 3 decades, he created a set of 14 Teaching CD ROMs in GI Endoscopy, first of its kind in India and distributed the same of Medical Colleges all over India.
He founded Medical Academy, for propagating the latest state of the art medical advances among the medical students and also among medical professional serving rural areas and has so far organized 28 International, 27 National, 33 Regional conferences and 200 city weekly GE meetings. During the present Covid-19 pandemic he has organized 13 International Webinars.
He has trained over 750 doctors in Advanced G.I. Endoscopy both from India and from neighbouring countries such as USA, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Nepal, USA, Palestine, Nigeria, Kenya, UAE etc. and they are serving as opinion leaders in their respective countries.
As an invited Expert faculty at National, Regional and State levels, he has so far delivered 40 prestigious Orations and over 520 invitational lectures in professional medical forums.
He is the only Indian faculty to have presented his Research Paper at the 10th World Congress of Gastroenterology at Los Angeles in 1994. He was the Indian Representative at the World Congress of Gastroenterology at London in 2009.
He served as Adjunct Professor of The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai from 2010 to 2020.
He has served as International Committee Member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) during 2017 to 2021 and the Program Coordinator for ASGE – ISG Joint Symposium at the Annual DDW Meet held in USA since 2017 and Invited Speaker in 2016 and 2019.
He has been recognized for his exceptional and outstanding contribution to Gastroenterology, G.I. Endoscopy and Medicine and honoured by The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai as Hon. Distinguished Professor for Lifetime, in July, 2021.
